More than 1,170 employees & senior researchers from leading AI companies signed a public statement called “Pacing the Frontier,” urging the U.S. government to support an international system for managing automated AI research. The signatories want governments to build:
Technical systems for tracking dangerous capabilities and detecting rapid AI-assisted progress
Governance mechanisms that could coordinate or slow frontier development when more time is needed for safety and security
The statement doesn’t call for an immediate pause, fixed speed limit, or specific law. It asks governments to prepare the ability to coordinate before a crisis makes it necessary.
Signatories include people from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Mistral, and Thinking Machines. They signed personally, so the statement doesn’t represent official company positions.

And now there’s Graph Engineering too?

AI BREAKTHROUGH
OpenAI analyzed more than 800,000 work-related ChatGPT messages from U.S. users to study “task crossover,” where people use ChatGPT for work normally associated with another occupation. Main findings:
16.8% of all work-related messages involved tasks linked to another role.
After removing generic activities such as writing, scheduling, and summarizing, 43.5% of occupation-specific messages fell outside the user’s usual job.
That second number needs context. It applies only to messages OpenAI could clearly connect to a specific occupation. Customer experience workers showed the highest crossover at 77%, followed by designers at 75%, HR workers at 69%, legal workers at 56%, and marketers at 53%.
Marketing and engineering tasks spread most widely across other professions. Common examples included financial calculations, contract review, technical troubleshooting, customer data analysis, website work, and creating marketing materials.
In practice, marketers may troubleshoot websites, sales teams may analyze customer data, and small-business employees may handle basic legal or financial work without waiting for another department.
