11 AI Power Plays Altman & Musk Say Will Rewrite 2025

Read time: 5 minutes

What if the “AI boom” we’re living through turns out to be the warm-up act? Sam Altman just hinted at ChatGPTs that ship with robots in the box, while Elon Musk wants Grok to delete and rewrite humanity’s entire knowledge base—then train on its own rewrite…

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CLOUDWAYS

Imagine this:

🤖 Prospecting done by smart AI.
📈 Client reports built while you sleep.
⚙️ Workflows humming without extra head-count.
💳 And you pocket a $50–$100 gift card for leveling-up.

That’s the reality agencies are already living with AI—now it’s your turn.

  • Battle-tested growth playbooks from experts at Google, Elementor & more

  • Hands-on demos of the AI tools top agencies swear by

  • Step-by-step systems to win more clients and scale fast

  • Live sessions, prizes, and networking with peers who speak “growth”

AI INSIGHTS

Sam Altman just pulled back the curtain on how (and why) OpenAI went from 8 people around a whiteboard to the fifth-biggest site on the internet—and why the real action is still ahead of us.

From Coin-Flip to Category King

  • 2015: AGI sounded like sci-fi. Even Altman admits it was a 50/50 call to start OpenAI.

  • Talent hack: by aiming for a truly “one-of-one” mission, they vacuum-sealed the smartest 1% who cared.

  • Zero revenue for years—then ChatGPT lands, and traffic rockets past every consumer app launch record.

The Current “Product Overhang” Is Massive

  • GPT-4o Mini and o3 reasoning models can do far more than today’s products expose.

  • API prices are collapsing (“last week o3 cost 5× more than today”) and an open-source model “better than you’re hoping for” drops soon.

  • Translation: even if model quality froze tomorrow (it won’t), we’re still at the 1960s of AI product design.

Memory Is the Sneak-Peek of a Persistent AI Companion

  • Altman’s favorite 2024 feature: ChatGPT Memory.

  • Vision: an always-on agent that learns you, hooks into all your data, and proactively acts—without spamming you with notifications.

Hardware Is (Finally) on the Table

  • A “new device” is coming—co-designed with Jony Ive—to make the interface “melt away.”

  • Long-term: the high-tier ChatGPT subscription might ship with a humanoid robot in the box. Yes, really.

Compute & Energy Are the New Oil

  • OpenAI is sprinting toward “the largest, most expensive infrastructure in the world” and openly wishes your local devices would shoulder half the workload.

  • The limiting factor soon isn’t algorithms, it’s energy—and maybe parking a datacenter in orbit.

Why It Matters

  1. Startup greenfield: The “ground is shaking.” When cycle times compress this hard, startups win—if they stop cloning ChatGPT and attack untouched spaces.

  2. Defensibility ≠ model access: Memory, data integrations, and user trust are the new moats.

  3. One-person leverage: In Altman’s 10-year view, a tiny team with reasoning agents + abundant energy equals “unimaginable super-intelligence” at human fingertips.

Bottom line: Bet on contrarian conviction, design for agents (not dashboards), and treat compute like scarce gold—until the robot courier shows up with your next hardware upgrade.

AI HIGHLIGHTS

🚀 Elon Musk wants Grok to “rewrite the entire corpus of human knowledge.” After that, he’ll retrain the bot on its own rewrite to purge “far too much garbage.” Orwell called—he wants his plot back.

💼 Reid Hoffman says AI will transform jobs, not spark a “white-collar bloodbath.” Think Excel-for-everything, not unemployment lines; person-plus-AI is his long-game.

🎨 Comic legend Paul Pope isn’t losing sleep over AI plagiarism—he’s more worried about killer robots and mass surveillance. Brushes, ink, and a healthy dose of dystopia remain his weapons of choice.

🛠️ Amazon is bundling QuickSight, Q Business, and Q Apps into a single “Q Business Suite” workspace. One interface to rule your data, automate workflows—and maybe retire today’s Q chatbot.

🧠 “Godfather of AI” Geoffrey Hinton says Google throttled early chatbots over reputational risk, while OpenAI sped ahead with nothing to lose. Whether Sam Altman’s moral compass points true north? “We’ll see,” Hinton shrugs.

  1. 🤔 Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch says the real AI danger is deskilling, not white-collar wipeouts—keep humans “in the loop” or risk lazy minds.

  2. 🚀 Mistral drops Small 3.2, slashing repeat-loops by 50% and boosting instruction accuracy to 65% on WildBench.

  3. 💰 Meta quietly courted Perplexity before its $14.3B Scale AI stake—Zuck is still shopping for an edge.

AI CHART

byte-level-au-net-chases-llama-on-1pct-compute

Meta’s new Autoregressive U-Net (AU-Net) learns its own tokens on the fly—no BPE vocab needed—and still runs neck-and-neck with a rigorously tuned BPE Transformer. Even wilder: it keeps sight of Llama 3.1 8B while burning ~100× less FLOPs.

Figure 3, decoded

Six benchmarks, one story. The 2- and 3-stage AU-Nets hug the BPE baseline curve from 1e19 → 1e22 FLOPs, then inch toward Llama 3.1 8B—which spent two orders of magnitude more compute.
Compute parity, accuracy parity. At equal budgets the 3-stage model actually beats BPE on Hellaswag & ARC-Easy, and closes the gap on TQA as training steps climb.
Cross-lingual freebie. Working at the byte level gives low-resource languages a free bump: Germanic tongues gain ≈ +3 EM, Romance ≈ +4 EM on multilingual MMLU.
Depth over width. Scaling 1B params through 2 → 3 → 4 stages lifts Hellaswag from 70.2 → 73.7 and MMLU from 27 → 31.7—all on the same data budget.

Why it matters:

  • Tokenization goes dynamic. The network pools bytes→words→phrases during the forward pass, so the “vocabulary” adapts per sequence instead of being hard-coded.

  • Efficiency ≻ brute force. Matching Llama-grade performance without Llama-grade bills hints at a coming wave of architectural gains, not just bigger GPU clusters.

  • Multilingual bonus, no extra data. Byte patterns transfer across Latin-script languages automatically—promising for markets where labeled text is scarce.

  • Agents that read their own logs. Byte-level handling means AU-Net can flip between code, config files, and emoji-laden chats without falling back to unk tokens.

Bottom line: AU-Net shows we can squeeze more juice out of every FLOP by rethinking the shape of a model, not just its size. The tokenizer might be the next thing to disappear.
