AI INSIGHTS
DeepSeek just released DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017, promising better results with less waiting. The company says it finishes tasks faster and produces shorter outputs, lowering the cost of getting work done. Hereās what changed:
Better coding: Terminal-Bench 4.0 rose from 31.2 to 42.3, while DeepSWE v1.1 climbed from 74.2 to 77.0.
Stronger automation: Automation-Bench increased from 54.8 to 60.5 in DeepSeekās tests.
Complete projects: DeepSeek says training with self-feedback improves project development, including games and 3D modeling.
Open access: Model weights are available on Hugging Face and ModelScope under the MIT license.
For builders, Search & Fetch APIs are now open to everyone at $0.75 per 1,000 calls per endpoint. These let applications search the web and retrieve page content.
Calls through server-side tools in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code, and Codex are temporarily free for DeepSeek API users. Billing starts October 31 at 16:00 UTC.
The model is live on DeepSeekās website, app, and API. Harness users should update to v0.2.1-rc.1 or later.
Faster completion and fewer tokens could make repeated AI tasks cheaper. These are DeepSeekās own test results, though, so try your actual workflow before switching.

AI BREAKTHROUGH
Getting access to AI is one thing. Having the training, support, and confidence to use it regularly takes more. A report co-authored by Harvard Kennedy School researchers shows how those gaps play out for women across work, daily use, and the news.
The research combines a survey of 5,403 U.S. adults, desktop browsing data, and 78,542 AI news articles. Hereās what the charts show:
Regular use: 16% of women said they use AI regularly, compared with 25% of men. Meanwhile, 29% of women reported never using AI, versus 22% of men.
Workplace support: Employed women reported less access to AI training, mentorship, and encouragement. These supports were linked to greater use and confidence across both genders.
Privacy concerns: Among occasional users and those using AI rarely or never, 40% of women and 34% of men cited privacy as a barrier.
Who gets heard: Men appeared in AI headlines 14.6 times as often as women and were cited as experts 4.3 times as often.
One detail matters: desktop browsing data found no statistically significant gender gap in having ever used AI. The difference showed up in usage intensity, with male AI users spending a larger share of their browsing time on AI tools.
For employers, the practical takeaway is to check who actually receives training and support. Higher usage alone doesnāt prove better outcomes, but unequal access can leave people with fewer chances to find useful applications.
A CRM so smart, it updates itself.
HubSpot's CRM is so smart, it now updates itself. Calls get logged and summarized the moment they end. New leads get researched and a first outreach drafted, automatically. Deals move forward on their own, with next steps flagged before you have to ask.
Even the one repetitive task you've been meaning to fix can now run itself, no code required. Customers using it are already seeing the difference.
This isn't the CRM you have to work hard to figure out. It's the one already working before you log in.
