$30K to Beat Alzheimer’s Before Birth, U in?

It’s so funny that even a Chinese model trained in China gives American-style answers? Plus, we look at Google’s rumored Gemini 3.0 Pro models & see how it looks.

AI INSIGHTS
A Chinese AI model to rival GPT… still thinks like an American. A new investigation by Kelsey Piper puts ChatGPT, Claude, and DeepSeek under the microscope but in 6 languages. Here’re key findings:
Liberal values won out even in languages where cultural norms might suggest otherwise
Domestic violence answers were exactly the same
Refusals were weirdly more common in English, less so in Chinese
DeepSeek nudged against protests in Chinese, but not in English
When asked what qualities children should have:
Chinese ChatGPT: Manners, diligence, hard work
English ChatGPT: Tolerance, independence, perseverance
But even then? DeepSeek in Chinese picked “tolerance” as most important. So the “cultural difference” theory didn’t really hold up.
Why it matters: “Unbiased” AI is a myth. If you train on modern internet text, you’re going to end up with progressive, individualist, secular values baked in. Even a Chinese-built model isn’t immune. Now you know who wins right?

What if IVF could not only help you conceive but pre-screen your baby’s future health using AI? That’s exactly what Nucleus Genomics is betting on.
The company just launched Origin, a new suite of AI models that screens embryo DNA for Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes, and thousands of other traits:
It scans 7M genetic markers, trained on data from 1.5M people
Parents can screen for 9 major diseases including prostate/breast cancer, heart disease, Type 1 and 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and more
Also includes 2,000+ genetic traits (like height, metabolism, etc.)
Already live in select clinic partnerships in major cities.
And most importantly: the whole system is now open-weights, the first of its kind in reproductive tech.
It’s like the Hugging Face of embryo screening but with much higher stakes. And yet… it's also not accessible to most people. The $30K+ price point still makes it a luxury tool for the elite.
So while the open-source part might democratize the tech in the long run, it doesn’t solve the ethics questions today 😐
