Watch Episode 1 of Grok’s Odyssey series
Grok Imagine just released the first seven minutes of its AI-generated Odyssey, three months after Elon Musk promised a full-length, “historically accurate” version. For now, Grok is calling it Episode 1 of a series.
The episode was made with Grok Imagine, in collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker.
Some shots look surprisingly realistic, especially the ships, sea, and human faces.
The biggest weakness is storytelling: reviewers criticized the stiff dialogue, slow pacing, and lack of emotional weight.
Musk originally positioned the project against Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which relied heavily on practical filmmaking and a large real-world production.
Grok has not yet released the promised full-length movie or confirmed when the next episode will arrive.
We can see that AI video is getting much better at producing convincing individual shots. Grok’s Odyssey also shows the harder problem: turning those shots into a movie people actually want to keep watching.

AI BREAKTHROUGH
Apollo’s chief economist Torsten Slok says AI still shows “zero financial payoff” for corporate America outside Big Tech. His evidence focuses on the S&P 500 excluding Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla. Main findings:
Revenue per worker is rising for the Mag 7, but flat for the S&P 493.
Profit margins are also rising for Big Tech, while staying largely flat elsewhere.
Apollo says there is still no clear economy-wide productivity acceleration linked to AI.
Some companies are beginning to see AI token spending more as a cost center than a growth engine.
Apollo’s earlier sector analysis found weak or flat margin trends across consumer staples, industrials, real estate, energy, and materials.
The adoption numbers make this more interesting. A 2026 international survey of nearly 9,000 executives found 78% of firms already use AI. Yet more than 80% of firms previously reported no measurable impact on productivity or employment.
But other 2026 research finds productivity gains in specific areas such as finance, high-skill services, and accounting, suggesting AI can work when companies redesign workflows around it.
