Google DeepMind unveiled Gemini Robotics 1.5, a next-gen robotics model that’s edging us closer to general-purpose AI machines that can handle real-world messiness.
And yes… it uses Google Search mid-task. Wild. Some wild examples from the demo:
Folded laundry into different baskets by color
Packed a trip bag, added an umbrella after checking the weather
Sorted recycling using local city rules it pulled from the web
Used tools it wasn’t explicitly trained on
Motion transfer: Took skills from a robotic arm and applied them to a humanoid bot
(This is a huge deal for future-proofing training)
So why is this different from the last Gemini robot → Earlier Gemini Robotics could do one task, one time. Now we’ve got multi-step planning + reusable motion logic.
It’s like upgrading from “Hey Siri, set a timer” to “Hey Siri, clean the house while I’m gone and make decisions if things change.”
Why it matters: Is this the “ChatGPT moment” for robotics, where suddenly everyone realizes how far the tech has come? But don’t get too excited just yet... Google admits there are still ongoing major hurdles.

Google Cloud’s latest DORA report dropped to confirm what many already feel: Developers are all-in on AI tools… even if they kind of don’t trust them. So… just how "all-in" are we talking?
90% of devs are now using AI tools regularly
Most spend around 2 hours per day working with AI assistants
Yet 30% say they trust AI outputs “a little” or “not at all”
AI is now essential infrastructure, even if it still feels like it might hallucinate your whole database into a pizza recipe. Despite the trust gap:
80% of devs reported clear productivity gains
59% said it’s actually improving code quality
In other words: “I don’t fully trust it, but I’m definitely not going back.” To help orgs handle the rising tide of AI code tools, Google also dropped the DORA AI Capabilities Model.
It’s basically a framework of 7 best practices for using AI effectively in dev teams. They haven’t published the full model yet but it’s the start of a bigger push to standardize AI dev practices.
