Weekend hack: HackerTube
Andrej Karpathy just launched HackerTube, a YouTube-style website built almost entirely using Claude Code and Opus 5.5. His only manual tasks were creating a YouTube API key, setting up a server, and buying a domain.
He was frustrated with YouTube's recommendations and wanted a better way to find quality videos. What happened?
43 million Hacker News comments analyzed, spanning nearly 20 years.
39,834 comments identified as recommending videos.
6,454 YouTube videos selected across 150 topics, including programming, science, and technology.
Just 2 hours to build and deploy the website, according to Karpathy.
Recommendations on HackerTube come straight from Hacker News discussions. Your preferences are stored locally in the browser. You can export the dataset and ask AI to build their own versions.
Interestingly, he revealed that the project consumed approximately 504 million input tokens and 7.6 million output tokens, mostly from Sonnet processing Hacker News comments.

AI BREAKTHROUGH
A few days ago, Doximity tested 9 leading AI models on more than 8,000 medication questions covering 2,204 drugs. The results were concerning:
2.3% of AI-generated doses were incorrect, based on more than 261,000 dosing evaluations.
43.8% of detected errors were serious, 3.4% classified as potentially lethal.
Newer medications (approved since 2024) had 5.1× higher odds of dosing errors.
1 in 5 severe errors involved incorrect units or decimals, such as confusing milligrams with micrograms.
AI frequently failed to adjust doses for patients' age, weight, kidney function, or drug interactions.
So, the company launched DoseCheck, a free safety feature that checks AI-generated drug doses against verified medical databases, including FDA labeling. Doximity claims the system achieves over 99% dosing accuracy.
We can say that AI can generate medically convincing answers that contain dangerous mistakes. Even when patient information is provided, AI models can overlook critical details. Be really careful guys!
