Both models completed the same tasks in Claude Code. The tests covered website reconstruction, task management, and 3D game development.

Kimi delivered an accurate Orbit website faster than Claude. However, Claude created a more useful task management dashboard and a better-designed 3D racing game.

When Kimi K3.1 Pro came out, my first thought was: “Should I tell my whole team to stop using Claude Code?”

I mean, Kimi's API costs 50% less, and it's advertised as strong enough to compete with Claude Opus 5.5. If the quality is the same but the price is half, why wouldn't we switch?

But before telling my whole team to switch to Kimi, I decided to put Kimi vs Claude through 3 real coding challenges, using the same prompt. And the results weren't exactly what I expected.
