⚔️ Meta’s AI Comeback Starts Here!
RE: 💸 OAI's $7,000,000,000 employee payout

Meta's Glimmer probably won't beat the largest Claude, GPT, Gemini or Muse Spark models. But it's still good enough to become the brain of an always-running agent.

The companies that pull ahead in AI will be ones that operationalize insight better than everyone else.
As AI expands access to intelligence, the real differentiator becomes how leaders translate that intelligence into better decisions, stronger operating habits, and faster organizational learning.
AI INSIGHTS
Meta just released Muse Glimmer-30B, an open-weight model designed to run capable AI agents directly on your own computer. Main details:
~29.6B parameters with a dedicated vision encoder.
131K+ context window with text and image input.
Apache 2.0 license, so developers can modify, fine-tune, and deploy it commercially.
Built for long-running agent tasks, tool calling, coding, screenshot understanding, and failure recovery.
Quantized versions can fit within roughly 24 GB of VRAM.
Meta says DFlash speculative decoding can push performance up to 233 tokens/sec on an RTX 5090.
Glimmer scored 76% on SWE-Bench Verified and led several agent-focused benchmarks such as MCP Atlas and DeepSearch QA.
It supports local ecosystems including Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, MLX, vLLM, and OpenRouter.
Actually, Glimmer was distilled from the much larger Muse Spark model, whose weights Meta also plans to release later. Glimmer makes always-on local agents much more practical by combining strong coding, vision, tool use, and long-horizon reasoning without requiring every step to go through a cloud API.

FREE LIVE WEBINAR THIS WEEK
Earlier, we asked what you wanted us to build next, and building a full working app from scratch came out on top.
AI can now generate an impressive-looking app in minutes. But getting a nice first screen isn’t usually the hard part.
The harder part is knowing what to build first, how to make the features actually work, what to do when something breaks, and which AI approach makes sense once your app becomes more than a simple prototype.
So that’s exactly what we’re building live this week:
📅 Wednesday, August 12
⏰ 10:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM PT
🎟️ Free to join
You don’t need to know how to code to follow the session. We’ll explain the decisions and focus on a workflow you can reuse for your own ideas.
When you register, you can also tell us what kind of app you want to build and what’s stopping you right now. We’ll use those responses to shape the live build and Q&A.
Can’t make it live? Register anyway and we’ll send you the replay.

AI BREAKTHROUGH
SemiAnalysis argues that Gemini is losing its frontier-model position while Google Cloud is becoming the bigger winner from the AI boom. SemiAnalysis’ main claims:
Gemini 3 Pro may have been Google’s high point. Gemini has fallen behind OpenAI, Anthropic, and several newer models through 2026.
Google reportedly canceled Gemini 3.5 Pro and released Gemini 3.6 Flash as a bridge toward Gemini 4.
Gemini first-party API growth slowed from about 60% in Q1 2026 to 38% in Q2, reaching roughly 22B tokens per minute.
SemiAnalysis estimates more than 20% of TPU shipments from Q3 2026 through Q4 2027 will go directly to Anthropic.
SemiAnalysis estimates Gemini ARR at around $12B in Q2 2026, while GCP could reach more than $73B in third-party AI ARR plus $120B in TPU sales by the end of 2027.
GCP grew around 82% last quarter, with SemiAnalysis projecting TPU system sales could push 2027 growth into the mid-100% range.
SemiAnalysis believes Google is choosing to monetize its compute infrastructure through GCP rather than reserving that compute for DeepMind’s frontier-model race. That could make Google extremely successful financially even if Gemini loses ground technically.
