🕵️ Ox Alpha = AI’s Latest Mystery Hit?
FREE? $0 input? $0 output? Who made it?

A mystery AI model appeared from nowhere, gives 1M context for free, impressed Stripe’s CEO, internet detectives now think they’ve traced it back to China’s Z.ai?

AI INSIGHTS
Ox Alpha is a mysterious new stealth AI model that appeared on OpenRouter last week. Nobody has publicly confirmed who built it yet. Ox Alpha is attracting attention because it combines a 1M context window, strong coding performance, multimodal input, and free access. It:
Built mainly for coding, long-running agent tasks, and complex reasoning.
Has a huge 1,048,576-token context window.
Can output up to 131,072 tokens.
Accepts text, images, and video as input.
Supports tool calling and structured outputs.
Currently available for free during its preview.
OpenCode advertised capacity of up to 100 trillion tokens per day across its pool, with near-unlimited usage during the launch period.
Stripe CEO Patrick Collison is among the developers who publicly praised its performance.
Early independent testing is also interesting: one full DeepSWE run reported 66 of 113 software-engineering tasks solved, or 58.4%, although this is a community benchmark.
The biggest mystery is who made it. Developers have speculated about Z.ai/GLM and Microsoft, but there is currently no verified attribution. OpenRouter explicitly says the developer is an anonymous third party.

AI HIGHLIGHTS
🗣️ Meituan released LongCat-Video-Avatar 1.5, which can create stable talking avatars from one image and voice clip, with tighter lip sync. Probably bookmark this one.
🤩 Grok Imagine just got an updated discovery page. You can now jump between photo editing, image resizing, and other features more easily. Check it out here.
😂 A lucky buyer grabbed grok.bot (not Grok Bot) weeks before Grok’s latest launch and is already trying to cash in. Now they’re trying to flip the domain for a wild price.
📱 Google Antigravity now supports Remote Control, so you can keep working with your agents from another device after starting on your desktop. See how it works.
🕷️ 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is caught in an AI-art debate after fans flagged wonky concept art. A designer says Marvel actively screened for AI, so it’s still messy.
🧪 DeepMind alumni startup Inherent says its Faraday agent beat Anthropic and OpenAI at reproducing papers, despite running on a much smaller Qwen model.
💰 Big AI Acquisition: Hugging Face is reportedly exploring acquisition offers worth at least $13B, nearly 3x its 2023 valuation of $4.5B, showing how valuable AI developer platforms have become.

AI BREAKTHROUGH
TARS Robotics introduced AWE 3.5, an embodied-native foundation model designed to combine perception, action, geometry, and touch inside one system from the beginning. Main points:
Uses a “Born as One” architecture instead of connecting separate perception, planning, and control modules later.
During pre-training, the model learns two core priors covering action patterns, spatial structure, and basic physical laws.
During post-training, its AI World Engine predicts possible future states, compares what different actions may lead to, and uses those predictions to choose better actions.
TARS describes the full training loop as five connected parts: embodied-native architecture, dual-prior pre-training, World Engine-driven post-training, scaling validation, and continuous data feedback.
The company says AWE 3.5 can sustain several minutes of long-horizon closed-loop reasoning.
TARS also claims roughly 2× higher task execution efficiency than π0.5, positioning AWE 3.5 as a general-purpose model for physical AI.
TARS is betting that more capable robots will come from training one unified model to understand, predict, and act in the physical world, rather than stitching separate AI components together after training.
Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads
Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:
After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.
The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.
“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”
Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.
