U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly investigated a suspected Chinese spy who gained access to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. According to The New York Times:
Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based Megaspeed, was suspected of gathering information for Beijing.
Megaspeed was already under investigation for allegedly helping Chinese companies bypass U.S. AI chip export restrictions.
U.S. intelligence agencies reportedly monitored her ties to Jensen Huang for about a year.
Officials feared she could be collecting information about Nvidia's business plans and its efforts to secure approval for advanced AI chip sales to China.
Nvidia denied any wrongdoing, saying Jensen's meetings with Alice were routine customer interactions and involved no sensitive information.
Nvidia sits at the center of the U.S.–China AI race. Even information about its future chip plans or negotiations with Washington could be valuable to Beijing. The espionage allegations remain unproven publicly.

Anthropic introduced self-assessment, a technique that lets Claude review its own conversations for potential misuse. It adds just 10 output tokens and less than 2% extra compute. The results:
Flags 78% of potentially harmful conversations detected by a stronger classifier.
Catches 94% of high-priority cases, with just 1% false positives.
Reduced cyberattack success from 79% to 54% in Anthropic's tests.
Made successful attacks require 4× more generated tokens.
Anthropic also uncovered a romance scam operation and suspicious activity that its existing safety systems had missed.
The interesting part: AI security is becoming a compute battle. Better models can help catch attacks, while attackers spend more resources trying to bypass them.
Important detail: Anthropic uses self-assessment mainly to flag suspicious activity for later review, rather than block attacks in real time. Its accuracy is also measured against another AI classifier, so the results have limitations.
