AI INSIGHTS
OpenAI was riding high: $300B valuation, 500M weekly users, and the most hyped AI company on Earth. But now, the sharks are circling. Google, Meta, Amazon, even Microsoft, are applying pressure from every angle. What looked like dominance in March 2025 is now a messy battle to hold the throne.
🧠 What’s Happening to OpenAI?
Meta goes full NBA free agency. It’s poaching 3 top OpenAI researchers.
Windsurf deal collapsed → Google wins again. Windsurf’s CEO goes to Google with $2.4B
Tension is growing between OpenAI and its biggest backer - Microsoft: $100B AGI feud
Its open-weight model launch delayed again. Meanwhile, xAI’s Grok 4 is gaining momentum
Even his brand collab with Jony Ive is in legal limbo.
Meanwhile, a Hollywood movie by Amazon paints him as a scheming Zuckerberg 2.0.
👑 All this While OpenAI is Still #1:
Still dominating usage. ChatGPT is used by 500M people every week.
$200M US defense contract. Building battlefield-ready AI with Anduril.
A ChatGPT-powered browser is coming. Could threaten Google Chrome.
Being king of the hill means everyone’s gunning for you. Every major player wants OpenAI’s spot but no one can buy it. So they’re trying to weaken it instead.
Why it matters: Altman is stuck between two roles: visionary leader vs. business operator. He’s got a $300B rocket ship to steer, lawsuits to dodge, partners to please, and still needs to ship models that work better than Claude or Grok.

AI HIGHLIGHTS
🌟 Someone supposedly asked Grok to create a physical representation of itself, and the luminous, cosmic result is going viral with over 10M views. Here’re others’ results.
📷 Google Gemini subscribers can use Veo 3 to turn their photos into AI-generated, eight-second videos with dialogue, sound effects, & 720p resolution. Use it here.
💀 Meta’s AI culture is called a “metastatic cancer” by its own researcher torching the company in a viral exit memo. This all comes while Meta’s in full AGI-hype mode.
📸 Snapchat Dysmorphia is real. AI Beauty is weird, worrying, and weirdly beautiful. People no longer aspire to look like celebrities… but to look like their AI filtered selves.
🙄 Turn out, many “missionaries” (as Sam Altman calls them) turned down Meta’s $100M “mercenary” signing bonus. Most of them chose to stay at Anthropic and DeepMind than at OpenAI.
💰 AI Daily Fundraising: Robinhood CEO’s AI startup Harmonic just raised $100M, reaching an $875M valuation. It’s building “Aristotle,” an AI that solves complex math problems better than any human.

AI CHART
Vibe coders promised to supercharge software workflows. But a new controlled trial says… hold up. METR, a non-profit AI safety group, just tested how AI coding tools like Claude 3.5 Sonnet impact real devs doing real work. Turns out, using AI took longer. Not shorter.
METR ran a randomized controlled trial with 16 seasoned open-source developers.
Each dev was assigned real tasks from large, messy repos they actually contribute to.
Half of the tasks let devs use Cursor Pro (powered by Claude 3.5 Sonnet).
The other half? No AI allowed.
Before starting, developers expected AI tools would speed things up by 24%.
Reality check: They were 19% slower with AI. That’s not a typo. Using Claude made things worse.
Turns out, vibe coding isn’t always efficient coding:
Prompt fatigue: More time spent crafting and tweaking prompts than coding.
Waiting game: AI response times = productivity killers.
Big repo blues: AI struggled to understand and navigate large, complex codebases.
Unfamiliar tools: Only 56% had prior Cursor experience even with training.
So yes, AI is smart. But in the wild? It still trips over real-world dev messiness. Most devs in the study believed AI would help. Even the ones who knew how to use LLMs regularly got slowed down.
And this wasn’t a test of amateurs. These were power users. The kind who run Git from memory and dream in terminal commands.
