AI INSIGHTS

hackers-breach-opencode-console

OpenCode warned that some OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google API keys stored in OpenCode Console may have been exposed after hackers breached a legacy system. The company linked the incident to a larger AI model distillation attack.

  • About 1.4% of OpenCode Console users were affected.

  • The breach only involved keys saved in OpenCode Console. Keys stored locally in the OpenCode desktop or CLI apps were not affected.

  • Some users reported unauthorized API usage and charges, including reports of $1,700+ overnight.

  • OpenCode emailed affected users with the subject “Action Required: Potential provider key breach.”

  • Simply deleting a key from OpenCode is not enough. You need to revoke it directly from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google and generate a new one.

If you use OpenCode Console, check your email and API usage immediately, rotate any exposed keys, then update every app or script using the old credentials.

Key takeaway: API keys are basically passwords with a credit card attached. If one leaks, attackers can run models on your account until you revoke it.

10-common-claude-5-5-models-mistakes

You're paying for Claude 5.5 to make your work easier, so why are you hitting your usage limits before you've even finished the job?

Worse, Claude keeps making the same mistakes while you burn through tokens explaining what you wanted in the first place.

The annoying part? Some of your everyday habits are making things worse. Switching models mid-chat, keeping sessions open forever, and writing vague prompts can quietly eat through your limits without improving the results.

These 10 Claude Code tips will help you avoid common mistakes, save tokens, and get better answers without wasting your usage on unnecessary back-and-forth.

AI BREAKTHROUGH

openai-boosts-ai-for-cobol-and-legacy-code-modernization

OpenAI’s latest GPT-6 models made a huge jump on old programming languages like COBOL, Fortran, Visual Basic, and OCaml, languages that still quietly run banks, governments, and critical infrastructure. Some of the numbers are wild:

  • GPT-6 Astra scored 87.4% on MultiLangBench, up from just 26.8% with GPT-5.6 Sol.

  • On COBOL specifically, Astra jumped from 10.9% → 72.1%.

  • Fortran improved from 21.4% → 83.5%.

  • Visual Basic reached 89.4%.

  • On real COBOL migrations, GPT-6.1 Sol reached 97.9% accuracy at higher reasoning effort. At low reasoning, it still hit 86.6% vs. 5.4% for GPT-5.6 Sol, while costing 39% less.

OpenAI uses hidden tests that require the migrated program to produce byte-for-byte identical outputs. OpenAI also released MultiLangBench publicly, so developers can test these claims across 20 programming languages themselves.

The scale of the opportunity is huge. OpenAI notes that COBOL still supports 40%+ of online banking systems, and 80% of in-person credit card transactions.

One interesting detail: COBOL remains the hardest language in the benchmark. Even Astra only reached about 72%, while it exceeded 83% in 19/20 languages tested.
