🏛️ Pope’s AI Warning Isn’t Really About AI
Claude's father #1 biggest tip is AUTO!

Pope Leo XIV just dropped a sweeping papal encyclical titled "Magnifica Humanitas," taking direct aim at Silicon Valley's tech elites for unchecked AI dominance.

AI INSIGHTS
Pope Leo XIV’s new encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, uses AI as the hook to talk about something much bigger: the erosion of democracy, massive inequality, and how tech elites are steering the world to benefit themselves.
The timing couldn't be more insane. It dropped right after President Trump delayed a major AI executive order that would have given the government oversight on new models. Here’re the main takeaways:
Tech built by a tiny, opaque group cannot serve the common good. AI naturally amplifies the power of the people who already have all the money, tech, and data, allowing them to manipulate what we buy and how we vote.
The Pope explicitly called for an end to the frantic push for "larger datasets" and "more powerful models".
The document argues that just because a company can build insanely powerful tech, it doesn't give them the right to govern society.
Thanks to endless data deepfakes, we are losing our collective ability to look at the world and agree on what is actually true.
Back in 1891, the Church called out the exact same exploitation during the Industrial Revolution. Today, you don't have to look far to see it again, just look at billionaire pumping hundreds of millions into super PACs to kill AI safety regulations.
The big question now is whether anyone in Silicon Valley or Washington is actually going to listen, or if the race for dominance is already too far gone to stop.

AI BREAKTHROUGH
Just days after OpenAI claimed to disprove an 80-year-old math conjecture, Google DeepMind fired back. Their new system, AlphaProof Nexus, just solved 9 open Erdős problems, including 2 that have left mathematicians stumped for 56 years.
Its AI writes the proof, Lean checks the math for errors in real-time, and they repeat the loop until it's flawless. It's essentially an AI that can grade its own homework with 100% certainty.
The system successfully solved 9 legendary open problems, plus 44 open conjectures from the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences.
Each of these historic math problems cost only a few hundred dollars in compute to solve.
While AlphaProof crushed these logical puzzles, it still hit a wall on problems requiring entirely new mathematical constructions. It can optimize and solve, but it can't invent brand-new math concepts just yet.
For a long time, skeptics said AI could only regurgitate its training data, but disproving and solving decades-old math problems is the definition of generating new knowledge. Google showed us the blueprint for the future of scientific discovery.
