A major Oxford study just revealed that when most people use AI for medical help, they actually make worse choices than when they Google. What’s going on?

AI INSIGHTS

chatgpt-md-knows-medicine

LLMs can pass medical licensing exams. They can outscore real doctors.
But give them to an ordinary person with a stomachache? They might make things worse.

Researchers tested ~1,300 people using top LLMs like GPT-4o. Each person got a medical scenario and could use AI to figure out what to do. Here’s what happened:

  • When AI worked alone: 90–99% accuracy

  • When humans used the AI: only 34.5% got it right

  • A control group using just Google? 47% accuracy

Yup. Adding AI made people worse at diagnosing themselves. The cause = incomplete info + misinterpretation + ignored good advice.

→ Even when the LLM gave correct suggestions, people just... didn’t listen. (Only 1 in 3 used the relevant condition the AI mentioned.)

Turns out, medical professionals are using incredible AI tools and thriving with them. For example: OpenEvidence, a diagnostic engine trained only on peer-reviewed literature.

Apparently, 1 in 4 U.S. doctors use it.
On average? 10 times a day.
Especially in oncology and complex cases.
→ So clearly, AI can work. But only in the right hands.

Why It Matters: Maybe no one wants to be the first one sued when a chatbot makes a bad call. We don’t need a robot doctor. We need something in between what the AI knows and what the user needs. Because AI can save lives only if we design it to actually help people, not just ace a test.

PRESENTED BY JIRA

56% of workers say scheduling a meeting is the only way to get information. With Jira, use AI to automatically add work from Slack, create subtasks, or attach relevant resources. So instead of scheduling a meeting, check the status in Jira. Easy.

AI CHART

google-gemini-just-went-offline

Google just dropped something big but quietly. It’s called Gemini Robotics On-Device, and it lets robots run AI models locally. And that’s a big deal.

Until now, most AI-powered robots needed to send signals back and forth to giant servers just to move an arm. Not anymore. This new Gemini model lives inside the robot.

But let’s rewind. Back in March, Google launched Gemini Robotics, a model that helped robots follow human commands using plain language. Great, but it lived in the cloud. Now? They’ve shrunk it down to run entirely offline, and it still holds up.

Google says the new on-device model performs almost as well as its cloud sibling, and it even beats unnamed rivals in benchmarks (yes, they left us guessing).

In live demos, robots using this new Gemini brain were doing surprisingly delicate stuff:

  • Unzipping bags

  • Folding clothes

  • Even handling new tasks they hadn’t seen before, like assembling parts on a moving belt

They’re releasing a full Gemini Robotics SDK, meaning developers can now fine-tune robot tasks using just 50–100 examples. Just show the robot what to do a few times. Everyone wants to be the “GPT” of robotics now.
