Nvidia CEO made a bold claim live at CES 2026: āThe ChatGPT moment for physical AI is here.ā AI is moving into the real world to power machines that see, reason, and act:
š The Star of the Show: Autonomous Vehicle AI
Huang announced Alpamayo, which he called the āworldās first thinking, reasoning autonomous vehicle AIā. It takes in video input & turns it directly into driving actions.
Nvidia also partnered with Mercedes-Benz, integrating its full driver-assistance software stack. He showed a live demo of it handling turns, avoiding pedestrians.
š§ New Hardware: The Rubin Platform
Nvidia also brought new AI chips. He launched the new Rubin platform, which includes six new chips designed to power these physical AI applications. The goal is to make robotics and autonomous machines not just viable, but scalable.
š¤ Physical AI Goes Beyond Vehicles
It wasnāt just about cars. Huang brought BD-1 droids from Star Wars onstage and flashed a slide of real-world robots powered by Nvidia.
But the stakes are high. Millions of jobs could be displaced, especially in driving and transport, and labor unions are already watching. AMD, Qualcomm, Intel are all present at CES this week with their own AI pitches. Weāll update next.
