CUDA kernels run custom operations on NVIDIA GPUs. But performance depends on tricky hardware details like warps, memory bandwidth, and bank conflicts. Code can compile correctly and still run slow.
So CUDA Agent trains differently.
Instead of rewarding compile success, it learns from real GPU profiling speed in a controlled environment.
Results look strong:
98.8% pass rate on KernelBench
96.8% of kernels faster than torch.compile
2.11× average speedup vs torch.compile
90% faster-than-compile on hardest Level-3 tasks
ByteDance also released CUDA-Agent-Ops-6K, a dataset with 6,000 CUDA optimization tasks for training and benchmarking.
