AI INSIGHTS

the-ai-bubble-is-17x-worse-than-dot-com

You've heard the AI bubble chatter before. But UK analyst Julien Garran is (probably) shouting it’s 17× bigger than dot-com and 4× bigger than the 2008 housing crash.

And get this, he's betting it won’t pop with fireworks, but slowly deflate and drag the entire tech economy with it. Y’know how everyone keeps saying “AI is the future”? But:

  • $1 trillion in market cap added by 10 AI startups, all still unprofitable

  • Only NVIDIA is making consistent returns. Everyone else is bleeding cash

  • The entire ecosystem is riding a VC treadmill, and now?

    • VCs are pulling back because valuations are absurd

    • Only a few mega-backers (SoftBank, sovereign funds, NVIDIA) are keeping things alive

LLMs are best at “bullsh*t jobs”. Markets are still hitting all-time highs. But what if he’s wrong? Garran lays out 2 possible futures:

  • Capital keeps getting funneled into AI that never delivers real value

  • Someone builds true AGI!
    → He's betting on Option 1.

Why it matters: Even if he’s wrong about a crash, this is also another alarm (cause we’ve already had so many), he’s not alone in asking hard questions about the sustainability of the AI boom. Also, the debate will keep bubbling.

AI HIGHLIGHTS

🎓 Stanford just gifted you a 4-part lecture series (5.5 hours total) including a clear, medium-depth understanding of LLMs), like ChatGPT. Watch them all here.

📝 “DeepSeek-OCR is the best OCR ever.” We doubted it too until we saw it parse messy, handwritten letters with frightening accuracy. See the test yourself here.

💪 We found a full test-drive of the Microsoft’s new AI browser. And it performed quite well across its feature set. You can read the full hands‑on test results here.

🚫 Microsoft's AI Chief publicly critized ChatGPT's erotica features, even after $13B investment. Maybe OpenAI is stuck between a tech platform & a quasi-social media!?

🕰 Overwork is back in Silicon Valley. AI startups are reviving China’s 996 grind (9 a.m. to 9 p.m., 6 days a week). Some researchers even joke about “0‑0‑2.”

💰 AI Daily Fundraising: OpenAI‑backed startup Valthos launched with $30M to build AI biodefense systems that detect and counter pathogens in just hours.

AI CHART

state-of-generative-media-2025-roi-is-already-here

Which provider(s) do you use for Image Generation?

Artificial Analysis just dropped its 2025 State of Generative Media report, packed with hard data from ~300 devs and creators. You’ve probably heard of Midjourney and Runway, but in real-world usage?

  • Google Gemini is the #1 image gen model (74% overall)

  • OpenAI GPTImage follows at 64%

  • For video? It’s Google Veo at 69%, then Kling (48%) and Hailuo (35%)

Gemini also leads in both personal (77%) and org (68%) image gen usage. Veo dominates video for orgs (72%) and personal users (67%) alike.

Basically: Google owns this chart. Still, model choice = quality first, then cost. No surprise here: everyone wants better output.

  • 76–82% say quality is their #1 driver. Cost ranks 2nd (46% personal / 55% org)

  • Other factors: open weights, accuracy, fine-tuning, and IP licensing

Finally, the money is already flowing. 65% of orgs are already seeing ROI or expect it in <12 months. Even if you're not using these tools yet, your competitors probably are.
