Everyone’s screaming “AI bubble!” But what if we’ve been pointing at the wrong risk this whole time? Maybe AI’s not the bubble. Maybe the rest of the economy is. Here’s what’s actually happening:
Nvidia is still hitting record highs

Anthropic just secured up to 1 million chips from Google
AI funding is literally massive
And the usage is even bigger
So if this is a bubble, it’s a weird one. Because everything’s still flying. Investor Gavin Baker draws a sharp line between now and the dot-com crash:
Back then: The 2001 telecom bust came from overbuilding “dark fiber”, empty optical cables waiting for internet traffic that never came
Right now: There are no dark GPUs. Every chip from Nvidia is already getting maxed out
→ Microsoft, Google, Meta are seeing real return on capital (ROIC) from their datacenter spend. Hyperscalers are earning solid ROI from their AI infra.
Why it matters: This is fiber-rich pumpkin season. If you think AI’s riding too hot, fine. But zoom out. What if the rest of the market is just too cold?
