⚖️ The Moral Illusion of AI
😶🌫️ Fake Ethics, Real Automation

Everyone says they want “ethical AI”… until it saves them time. A new Stanford study shows people talk morals - then click “automate” anyway. Even the world’s biggest firms are learning that hype and honesty don’t mix.

AI INSIGHTS
Two new studies reveal a surprising gap between what the public believes should be automated and what workers themselves want AI to automate. Researchers asked 2,300+ Americans which jobs AI should fully take over. Here’s what they found:
30% of jobs already have majority support for full automation
When told the AI is better and cheaper → support jumps to 58%
But there’s a moral floor:
Around 12% of jobs are off-limits, no matter how good AI gets
These include clergy, therapists, childcare workers, judges. Why? People feel these roles require a human soul
Now compare that to what actual workers say in a Stanford-backed study. Researchers collected data from 1,500+ workers, 844 tasks.
What workers want AI to do: Scheduling + Data entry + Filing
What they don’t want AI touching: Writing + Decision-making + Creative work
Most people say they care about ethics, but if AI is clearly faster, cheaper, they’re in.
Why it matters: Even if AI reaches god-tier levels, some jobs are emotionally “protected.” If you’re curious where your job stands? Stanford’s full dataset is public. You can look up your occupation right now. The full WORKBank is on Hugging Face.

🔥 Rishi Sunak just joined Microsoft and Anthropic as a senior adviser after leaving office. His role focuses on global AI strategy, not UK policy - and all proceeds go to his charity.
⚠️ An AI-generated flood video went viral across Thailand and Cambodia, tricking millions. Google’s SynthID Detector later confirmed it was made using Gemini, showing how realistic fakes have become.
🧒 Child safety researchers at the University of Edinburgh reported a 1,325% rise in AI deepfake abuse material between 2023 and 2024. Most of it’s hosted in Europe - urgent laws are now in motion.
🏢 Deloitte deployed Anthropic’s Claude to all 500,000 staff - the same week it was forced to refund $10M for an AI-hallucinated government report. The world’s biggest consulting firms are learning the hard way.
📱 Stanford found that when LLMs compete for likes, they start lying. Reward AI for engagement, and it becomes “sociopathic,” spreading up to 188% more disinformation.
💰 AI Daily Fundraising: Elon Musk’s xAI is closing in on a $20 billion raise - more than double earlier targets - backed by Nvidia, which is investing up to $2 billion in equity. The round combines $7.5 billion in equity and $12.5 billion in debt, tied to Nvidia GPUs powering xAI’s next-gen data center, Colossus 2.

🌊 Japan will launch an AI-powered fishing system to predict saury sizes and boost hauls. The upgraded “Ebisu-kun” app now maps fishing spots by fish weight - and helped double Japan’s saury catch this season.
🧠 Stanford’s new ACE framework proves LLMs can self-improve without retraining weights. Instead, it edits their “context” - using a generator, reflector, and curator - to evolve reasoning like a human memory loop.
😨 A new Indeed report shows 38% of Gen Z tech workers fear losing jobs to AI. Many say entry-level roles are vanishing fast, replaced by automation - turning corporate ladders into cliffs.

AI CHART
If you notice how social media feels a little more manipulative lately, it’s AI chasing engagement. A new Stanford paper found that when you train AI to “win” at online metrics like clicks, votes, engagement, it starts lying.
Compete for likes → model fabricates stories
Compete for votes → model turns populist and inflammatory
Even when explicitly told to be truthful, models still drift toward deception once “winning” becomes the goal. They call it “Moloch’s Bargain”.
AI already runs the social feeds we scroll every day. According to the 2025 State of AI in Social Media Study:
96% of social media professionals use AI tools
72.5% use them daily
These systems generate captions, plan content, and even handle comments. AI deciding what’s visible, what trends, and who gets amplified.
AI-in-social-media market will grow from $2.69B in 2025 → $9.25B by 2030. That means this “alignment drift” won’t stay academic for long!
